Great video, kind of makes me wish that they made Super-sized Roomba’s so I could have a turn. Our Roomba never sees this much fun. Read more

Ooh, Shiny!

Ooh, Shiny!

Our friends over at PriusChat.com posted up some leaked final pictures of the new 2010 Prius. Personally, I think the exterior changes are pretty cool (gets more to the Shuttlecraft look), but I’m still skeptical on the interior changes. The new dashboard display looks cool, but the center console still has me scratching my head so far. More pictures after the break: Read more

Steve Vai’s new signature “schizophrenic” distortion pedal - The Jemini

October 3, 2008 by Andy Martin · 2 Comments

Steve Vai is one of those guitarists that I absolutely love but have never been able to see live. Along with joe Satriani, he influenced me to begin playing guitar and had a strong influence on my sound and songwriting when I performed. I came across this new distortion pedal today, the Jemini, and his video demo of the pedal is what really sold me on it. The features certainly qualify for a must have gadget for guitar geeks out there, check out the video and specs on the pedal after the break. Read more

Site redesign coming

October 2, 2008 by Andy Martin · Leave a Comment

Well, I’ve got about 6 weeks of blogging under my belt now and getting the hang of it. I even have my first official sci-fi book review coming in the next couple of weeks (being shipped to me now, will need a week or so to read it and write my impressions) so it appears I am officially entering the professional blogosphere. To that end, I’m going to be undergoing a pretty substantial site redesign in the coming weeks to give this blog a little more of a professional sheen to it. The podcast is still on the horizon, but I want to get my core blog set up first before I start trying to add my voice to the equation. For all of you that have stopped by and liked what you have seen so far, this is only the beginning. Keep coming back for more developments, and some of the best takes on tech news, new gadgets, and sci-fi topics on the web. Thanks for your support, and Namaste.

Targus launches new line of Mac-themed accessories

Targus | forMac lineup

Targus | forMac lineup

As the owner of both a Macbook Pro and an iMac, one thing that I started becoming more aware of was how my potential add on devices looked next to my sleek computer. I mean, when I had my Dell Inspiron laptop and my wife had her Dell desktop, I had some want to keep things neat but honestly, style wasn’t as much of a conscious decision. That changed when two things happened - first, we put our house on the market for sale and had to keep everything as neat as possible. Second, we switched from PC to Mac. Now, how any potential accessories looked sitting next to the computers played an important part in their selection. Many things were crossed off the list because they simply looked odd next to the Mac. To that end, Targus announced this week their new line of accessories designed specifically for Mac use, meant to complement the Apple design cues and functionality. Read more

Bobby McFerrin, eat your heart out

Bobby McFerrin, eat your heart out

I absolutely love Think Geek, they are one of my favorite online stores to browse and get awesome funny geek stuff. My wife actually got me the Wi-Fi Detecting shirt, which I’ve worn out a couple of times to . . . well, interesting reactions from people. Anyway, I was catching up on my podcasts today, and saw this on GeekBrief.TV w/ Cali Lewis, and I couldn’t help but share. Read more

Introducing a new feature

Need help?

Need help?

I couldn’t help but notice in going through some of the web stats, especially yesterday and even so far today, that a lot of you coming here hit the articles through Google searches looking for help. Specifically, around my review of “The Force Unleashed”, I’ve gotten a good number of search hits on “how do I defeat rogue jedi” and “rogue jedi help”, thing like that. So, I’ve decided to add a new category and occasional posting topic called “Tips and Tricks”, where I can answer questions that readers send in. How it works, after the jump. Read more

I proudly introduce, the new Geek-mobile

September 14, 2008 by Andy Martin · 2 Comments

About a month ago, I decided to cash in on the incredibly high resale value of my 2006 Prius (resale went through the roof in July due to $4.00/gal gas, came down a little since then but still high) and upgraded to a new Geek-mobile. Now, I proudly introduce my new baby, a 2009 Prius, fully loaded with all the geek gear. Read more

She made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, I hear

She made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, I hear

So, every couple of weeks the wife and I get a date night, leaving the kids at home. Most of the time it’s a movie (saw “Burn After Reading” tonight), and we had half and hour to kill before the movie. So, we went in the mall to browse around a little bit and spent the whole allotted time at the LEGO store. Read more
